GENERAL INFORMATION

Healthcare tasks are becoming increasingly complex, requiring 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, digital literacy, and innovation readiness. Despite this, evidence-based practice is not fully utilized due to a lack of innovation and research competencies among professionals. I-RECAP aims to bridge this gap by integrating research and innovation into clinical practice, ensuring higher-quality care and a more sustainable healthcare system across Europe.
Engaging healthcare professionals, the project ensures user-driven innovation, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainability. Activities include developing sustainable training programs, management support, and integrating research into practice and education.

The project involves five work packages:

WP1: Project management

WP2: European baseline report

WP3: I-RECAP training material development

WP4: Testing, Implementation & Evaluation

WP5: Sustainability & Awareness

Developing training courses

to strengthen research and innovation skills, addressing urgent healthcare and labor market needs.

Implement a management support

system that enables healthcare managers to support and sustain research activities in clinical settings.

Enhancing interprofessional collaboration

through training programmes and living lab workshops within local learning environments.

Ensuring quality assurance

by integrating flexible learning opportunities into daily clinical practice

To achieve the four objectives, I-RECAP delivers three key sustainable results:

Sustainable Training Programmes for Healthcare Professionals

Develop, test, and implement training programmes that enhances research and innovation skills. Using problem-based learning methods such as living lab workshops, it bridges the gap between theory, research, and clinical innovation. The programmes will be integrated into professional development frameworks, (including micro-credentials), continuing education curricula, and digital platforms to ensure long-term accessibility.

Sustainable Management Support for Research Integration

Implement a management support system that enables healthcare managers to sustain research activities in clinical settings. This includes supervision groups, integrated research-support mechanisms, and institutional policies that promote research participation. Long-term sustainability will be ensured by embedding research-friendly policies and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Sustainable Integration of Innovation and Research into Healthcare Education

Ensure the long-term incorporation of research and innovation training into healthcare education curricula. Future healthcare professionals will enter the workforce with strong research and analytical skills. Sustainability will be secured through academic partnerships, accreditation alignment, and open-access learning resources.
